BUCKET HAT SEWING WORKSHOP
Thursday, October 8 · 6:00–9:00 PM
Make your own bucket hat from start to finish at La Paisa Studio. 🧢✂️
In this hands-on sewing workshop, you'll learn how to construct a wearable bucket hat while building your confidence working with a sewing machine and following a sewing pattern.
This is a great next project if you've taken an Intro to Sewing class or already know the basics of using a sewing machine.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
During the workshop, we'll cover:
- Understanding the pieces of a bucket hat pattern
- Cutting and preparing your fabric
- Sewing curved seams
- Constructing the crown and brim
- Working with multiple layers of fabric
- Topstitching and finishing techniques
- Assembling your hat for a clean, wearable finish
You'll leave with a finished bucket hat made by you and new construction techniques you can use in future sewing projects.
SKILL LEVEL
Beginner-friendly with basic sewing experience.
You should already know how to thread and operate a sewing machine and sew a basic seam.
If you've never used a sewing machine before, I recommend taking Intro to Sewing first.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
- Bucket hat sewing pattern
- Use of La Paisa Studio sewing machines
- Sergers and studio equipment as needed
- Cutting and pressing equipment
- Basic shared sewing tools
- In-person instruction from Natalia
WHAT TO BRING
Bring your own fabric so you can make the hat in a material and style that feels like you.
I recommend bringing approximately 1 yard of medium-weight woven fabric such as cotton, canvas, twill, or denim.
Avoid very stretchy or extremely heavy fabrics for your first bucket hat.
Thread and any special trims or embellishments you'd like to add should also be brought with you.
